Lesser black-backed gulls

Lesser black-backed gulls,
Töölönlahti, Helsinki 7.8.2014,
except the last photo 11.8.2014.

These gulls winter in East Africa and
the Indian Ocean. They leave Finland in
August-October and return in April-May.

  16. I have always thought gulls are very elegant birds, and especially love the black ones! The one on the rock, is it a mother and her young, beaks open? They look like they are have quite some conversation!

    1. Thank you Wren! I think it was the parents with their chick. They were talking to the other gulls. I think the others came too close to the chick.

  22. Many nice poses, but I enjoy the two having an argument. In gull talk maybe they are just saying sweet nothings!
