Lake Matalajärvi








Lake Matalajärvi, Espoo, 30.7.2014.

I often see great crested grebes and Canada geese
at Lake Matalajärvi. I've seen grey herons too, but
they're usually far away on the other side of the
lake. This time I was very lucky because one flew
over the lake near the birding tower.

    A big lake and big birds in the shape of Canada Geese there Gunilla. the geese make the grebe look tiny but I know it's not.

    The Crested Grebes are so special, I've never seen them in person. Great shot of the heron in flight, too, and the other birds.

    We have the Canada geese here and Blue Heron here as well. Small world!! Each Spring a pair of Canada Geese return to our place on the river and start their family. Now they are practicing for the long flight south. Thanks for sharing this pic.
