The male is feeding the chicks,
Porvoo 15.6.2014.
I found the nest by listening for the chicks.
I thought the nest was on the side I was standing on,
but it was on the other side. They seldom
use the same hole for more than one summer.

ReplyDeleteSending you Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
Thank you Miyako! Lots of hugs back to you!
DeleteYour shots of the woodpecker are wonderful, so sharp! And to also find a nest of babies, that it exciting. Woodpeckers are one of my favorite bird groups, and they look pretty much the same everywhere. I have Pileated woodpeckers around here but they are hard to spot, even harder to photograph. I do hear them often though.
ReplyDeleteThank you Hannah! I also love woodpeckers. The great spotted is the one I see most often.
DeleteWhat a great looking bird.
ReplyDeleteDet ser ut som hackspetten visar upp sin fångst för dig - häftigt! Vackra bilder!!!
ReplyDeleteTusen tack Ulla!
DeleteThat is a beautiful woodpecker. Nice views to show its color.
