Great crested grebe










Great crested grebes,
Töölönlahti, Helsinki, 9.7.2013.

I'm quite pleased with how these turned out
even if they're taken against the sun.

    You should be pleased with how these turned out ... they are wonderful and tender moments of a spectacular bird. I have only seen the Great Crested Grebe once ... they were way out in our lake, passing through I assume on migration. They are so beautiful that even at that distance they caught my attention. Thank you for reminding me of that special moment.

    Also on the Danube living grebes, but I never fail to shoot them so close up.

    Lovely Gunilla, isn't the juvenile of this species so unlike anything else, if it wasn't with the adult you wouldn't hazard a guess at what it is....
