  1. Oh my these are a rare breed. They must be expensive to purchase? Do they have red eyes or is it just the colour around the eyes. Very exotic looking. Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Thank you, Joy! They don't have red eyes, they're just reddish brown around the eyes. Enjoy your weekend.

  2. A dual purpose breed would have made a lot of sense in days of small scale farming. Good to see people preserving the rare breeds.

  12. The calf looks so mild and sweet. I haven't been around cattle enough to know what their personalities are, these look gentle. The white color is probably well suited to a northern climate? They must get lost in the snow.

    1. Thank you, Hannah! These are small and gentle. They thought the white colour would get the insects to leave them alone. They have probably not been outdoors in the winter. It's too cold.

  31. I'm so glad that this calf at her meoder should be:-)))))
It always makes me sad when I see in the Netherlands how many calves are taken away right after birth by the mother to be fattened in a small cubicle.

    1. Thank you, Stewart! It's a small breed well suited to harsh conditions and grazing in the forest. The white colour was thought to keep the bugs away.
