Goldeneye

Goldeneye (male), Sorlampi nature trail 11.4.2015.

Some birds winter in Finland, but most leave
between September and November for southern parts
of the Baltic Sea, the North Sea or Central and
Southern Europe. Thrives well in harsh conditions.
Among the first migratory birds to return to
Finland in March–April. (NatureGate)

  19. What a beautiful duck, I like the shape of his head, the white spot on the head, and the contrast of the white and black with apparently orange-red legs. The ripple patterns on the water are fascinating, too.
