Hepatica (Hepatica nobilis)
Hepatica is not able to vegetatively expand its area and
digging a bunch can decimate the species in the wild.
In the wild the species only spreads through its seeds,
which are transported by ants.

The leaves are wood sorrel and not the leaves of the hepatica. :-)

ReplyDeleteTraumhaft schöne Fotos. Eine wunderbare blaue Blüte. Bei uns wird es Leberblümchen genannt und wieder etwas gelernt, dass die Samen von Ameisen verstreut werden hatte ich nicht gewusst. Einen guten Start in die Woche!

What beautiful blue in such delicate flowers, Gunilla, they would be worth a walk in the woods. Somehow I always miss seeing the female hazel flowers, I'll have to see if any are still around.

I absolutely adore the deep blue of your hepatica...mine are a very pale purple, but still so beautiful with the fuzzy stems.
