Mute swans

Mute swans, 18.12.2013, Töölönlahti.

The swans are back again!
I saw two adults with five cygnets today.
I'm not sure if it's the same pair that
 nested in Töölönlahti last summer.
If it is then they have lost one cygnet
since I last saw them in December.

I'm linking to Wild Bird Wednesday.

  9. I hope they are staying warm ... I think our migrating birds are going to be surprised to find so much cold and snow as they come north. Those probably are the same swans because they do return to their territory from year to year ... They have done well to still have cignets. The first year is the hardest on the youngsters ...

    1. Thank you Andrea! We've had a warmer winter than usual with less snow and ice. It has probably helped the cygnets stay alive.

    1. Thank you Hannah! They were already full grown when I saw them in December. The colour on their feathers was also pretty much the same.

  17. Beautiful. I have heard rumors of some in Texas, though they are not native.
