Small critters in the forest


Pearl-bordered fritillary?




Slow worm - ormslå - vaskitsa

The slow worm is not a snake but a limbless lizard.
It's about 25-40 cm long and eats snails and worms.



Green hairstreak?


Geotrupes stercorarius is a species of earth-boring dung beetle.

  1. That worm straight up looks like a snake and I never would have second guessed it if I saw it myself. That is a cool critter. Love your butterflies!

  21. Someone else had a pearl-bordered fritillary recently, they have such gorgeous details in their wing designs. The Slow Worm is interesting to see, so glossy, he is welcome to come visit me and eat slugs.
