Common tern

Common tern taking a bath.
Töölönlahti, summer 2013.

The common tern migrates south in July - August
(only a few birds stay longer) and returns in May.
Eggs are incubated for 20 to 23 days.
Fledglings learn to fly in 24 to 30 days.
The common tern winters in Southern Africa, but
birds ringed in Finland have been found as
far away as Australia.

I'm linking to Wild Bird Wednesday.
